We had an easy morning ride thru Austin. The highway passed through a few small towns. We stopped in Rose Creek for a snack break. When we reached hwy 63, it was very busy and there was no shoulder. The wind had also switched from the SE, so it was a workout! We stopped in Lime Springs for a picnic in the park. Back on 63, things were just as bad, with lots of trucks. We turned east for the last 15 km, on to #9. It was a beautiful new surface with a nice paved shoulder to ride on. We had to ride into the wind, but it was more relaxing to have a shoulder for some margin of protection.
