After I woke up to a another flat tire, I decided
it was time for new tires. That meant we had to wait for the bike shop to
open at 9AM. Thank you for the super service at Wheeler Dealers in Rapid
City. They even covered the tires on warranty for me. Now we had a long
hot ride and with a 50km/h side wind to boot. We rode the service road for
a while, but the hills and the wind and the heat were too much for. WE went
back to the I90 so I could stop in the shade of the underpasses. I told
Jack to go on to Wall, because I was going to be a long time. A thunderstorm
started sneaking up on me, so I decided to wait it out at an underpass.
It was a little wet riding after that because o all the splash from the
trucks. Then I got another flat in my new tire! I pulled out a ½
inch tacking nail. How did I manage to pick that up on the freeway? When
I changed to my spare tube, it was defective! I tried to patch the other
one, but it still leaked! Jack phoned me to say there was a severe storm
warning in the area. Time to hitchhike the last 15 km. I was lucky enough
to get a ride in a pick up truck with two guys. They were great, but I did
have to listen to some preaching about the second coming. The hotel room
was so nice! |
