Buffalo to Gillette
It was a long trip today. We climbed up to the ridge and then rode up
and down along the ridge most of the way. The first 30 km was flat, but
the rest was mostly uphill. I could not believe the number of roadkill
rabbits in this area. It looked like a massacre most of the trip. Makes
me wonder about the number of animals killed daily along freeways in USA.
I had another flat just out of Gillette. This time I had to change it
out in the hot sun, beside the freeway. There is no shade or service in
this area for miles at a time. Gillette was a very busy place…lots
of truck traffic and no infrastructure for cycling. Even the
sidewalks were poorly maintained.
