We were on the road by 7:30AM. After we
got on I90, we noticed a nice bike path that paralleled the freeway…
too bad we could find directions to this trail earlier. Right out of Butte,
we started our climb over the great divide pass. It was a long ride but
the grade was only 7% and it was cool. After a long downhill run and a
pleasant ride through the valley, we had to climb another pass to Bozeman.
This one was at noon so it was a warm trip. Another nice downhill run
and some rolling hills and we pulled into Three Forks for lunch. It was
a nice ride the rest of the way, with a little cloud cover to keep us
cool. Bozeman is a university town, so there were some good bike lanes
on a lot of the roads. We checked in to the hotel about 6PM. I encountered
a nice paved bike path around the mall. It was a bit dangerous since it
crossed all the mall entrances near the main road, so you had to watch
for cars from both directions and both lanes. It also ended abruptly at
the end of the mall. Then I had to ride across the grass to the sidewalk,
then get across the road to the bikelane. |
