I decided to ride to downtown Vancouver and
take the bus to White Rock. I met Jack in White Rock and we rode to the
border. The ride thru Blaine was pleasant, then we got on I5. It was noisy
and the shoulder was not very clean. It was also hot by then. After about
2 hrs, we reached Bellingham. I was hot, tired and hungry. We had a nice
lunch in Bellingham and then followed a nice bike route thru Bellingham.
Then back to I5. I was glad to get off the hiway and use the road next to
Lake Samish. Then we crossed to the other side of I5. I had to stop at Alger
and soak my shirt in cold water. I also started using my water necklace
to stay cool. The road was mostly flat and pleasant. It got very heavy with
traffic at Burlington. Not really enough room on the road for bikes. I survived
my first day on the road. We reached Mt Vernon by 5PM. I slept well that
night.
